Made #churros again, besides chocolate sauce I also prepared salted caramel sauce. Last time's churros tasted too airy so I added 3 extra Tbsp flour in the dough. This made the churros crunchy on the outside and spongier inside. I'll try again this weekend adding only 2 extra Tbsp flour to see if it's better. Yay #strawberry season is here, I mixed blueberries to make cheesecake parfait. Layered cookie crumbs, berries, cheesecake mix and served with strawberry pocky. Happy hump day folks!!🍓

Since I made filled doughnuts last time, I tried yeasted #doughnuts from Baking Illustrated this time. The glazed flavors r cinnamon sugar / #chocolate with crushed almond or oreo / blueberry with crushed strawberry pocky, white chocolate and gold sugar pearls / lime with coconut and lime zest. I decorated #doughnut holes too. Awww they r so cute....*pops one into mouth*😌

#Homemade cranberry swirl #marshmallows . I've made marshmallows with egg whites several times last year but they failed. They didn't dry. I tried a new recipe this time, it adds egg whites in the end to create a spongier texture. I also dried the marshmallows in the fridge overnight. Black-bottom #coconut bars anyone? Love the chewy rich coconut layer with #chocolate base. The recipe is from Martha Stewart. But I added chocolate chunks in the coconut layer before #baking. Happy Thursday folks!!😊

Made deep fried Nam Yue pork belly last night. Nam Yue is a kind of fermented bean curd, the small cubes have strong salty complex flavors. It's used to marinate the pork. Served with steamed buns and Chinese coleslaw.

Last night's bacon fried rice with pesto shrimp. Love the light lemon flavors with pesto in the shrimps. I also added a little anchovy when frying the rice to add some fullness to the flavor.

Made 3 kinds soft #caramels , the flavors r cranberry, vanilla almond and #chocolate with Fleur de Sel. I love the natural color of cranberry ones, no food coloring needed. Have a sweet Friday/weekend everyone.😊

#Homemade vanilla cream filled #doughnuts , which is from Joanne Chang's recipe. The doughnuts taste soft and cakey and adding whipped cream in the pastry cream makes the filling taste lighter. I also filled some doughnuts with homemade cranberry jam.

Besides churros I also made #beignets . I chose Paula Deen's recipe for my first time, prepared the dough and let it rest in the refrigerator overnight. I filled some of the beignets with leftover chocolate sauce from the churros.

Baked maple bacon biscuits again for my sister's request. Haven't had breakfast for dinner for a while. Served with avocado scrambled eggs and a light salad. I made a biscuit sandwich using everything and added some Tabasco!!

Made pesto chicken and mushroom pita for snack. I spread pesto under the skin then pan fried it. No oil needed and I got crispy and flavorful skin. Love it!!

I found my new fav #chocolate chip #cookies recipe from NY Times. It combines cake and bread flour to create a delicate chewy texture plus a large amount of dark chocolate for rich flavors. The dough is unique in that it needs to be refrigerated for at least 24hrs before baking. The recipe specifies 3.5oz. of dough for each cookie, but I also tried 1 and 2 oz. sizes. I found 2oz. to be perfect for me, 3.5oz. is a bit too big.😍
