UPDATE: Stolen bike - Today I was going to take my homeless friend to get a bike, so he could continue his recycling. I was presently surprised to see that he got one on his own from a scrap metal shop. I was also excited when he expressed how much he would love to get a full time job, but just needed help with his Visa extension. The Street Life Project team will work on that this week. I know before long he will be back on his feet again. He really is a great guy with a big heart. #StreetLifeProject, #homeless, #homeless, #outreach, #motivational, #love, #hope

Last week one of my homeless friends had his bike stolen, which is what he uses to collect cans. It's how he makes just enough to survive. This pic shows the cart which he used to attach to a the bike. I will look around for a used bike I can purchase for him. If anyone ever wants to help any of the homeless I feature in my pics, or just want to follow the stories, hit me up on Facebook. Pic of Mom and daughter saying goodby for now. Yesterday we took Ester to a rehab center because she has decided that she is done with the street life and being homeless. She, and her boyfriend, have become my good friends throughout this journey. Every week they let me pick them up at their camp and take them to church. In fact an earlier pic in my gallery show us celebrating Easter together. Great times. Anyway, I will never forget her Mom crying in my arms as we were taking her daughter to go get better! I tried to be tough but couldn't help but cry along with her. It was an emotional happy day witnessing lives being transformed! It's amazing people like Lynette, Mike and Henry who dedicated their time and talent to make a difference. I would like to thank them for being a special part of Ester's journey! #homeless, #homeless, #outreach, #motivational, #love, #hope

We have been visiting this homeless man every week for years now. He actually has a key to several local salons who let him clean their establishments, in trade for a safe place to stay. Four weeks ago his dog passed away, which is like a child to those in the streets. It was a yellow lab mix who loved everyone. Even the the other local homeless were mourning the loss. At this time this kind man was starting to connect with one of the girls in our outreach. She has been so good at helping him with his grieving process. It has been hard seeing him so sad every week. Well, today he was starting to smile again and actually allowed us to pray with him, as a group, for the first time. We can see the spark of life in his eyes coming back and makes all of us so happy. :) Today was a good day! #homeless, #homeless, #outreach, #motivational, #love, #hope

Update on Michael (homeless) - Miracles all day. Today I picked up Michael at his camp to go get new glasses. He is getting ready for a job interview but his glasses are literally glued together with hot glue. The place I took him was actually the first place I had called a couple weeks ago to inquire about helping. The owner was super nice and said he would. Miracle One: What I found out is, that out of the hundreds of shops I could have picked to call, this happens to be the only company that makes the glasses for everyone in town. After the owner saw how bad the glasses were he wanted to make Michael a new pair. Miracle two: He had a very rare prescription which takes a super thick mold the shop doesn't normally carry. For some reason though, last week after I called, the owner felt he needed to order a set. He had no idea why, nor did he know what Michael's prescription was!!!! - Now the shocking part. The owner of the shop who helped a homeless man, is loosing his house in two weeks. He told me he had no choice. It was either his house or the business he has worked so hard building. He is hoping to find a place he can rent cheap for his family (wife and three kids). It just goes to show you how fragile this life is, and how we need to all stick together and help each other. Please pray for the man and his family that gave to a homeless man...when they are loosing their own house. Also pray for Michael and his job interview this week. :) WarriorsOutreach.org #TheStoryChanges, #hope, #love, #inspirational, #homeless, #outreach, #homelessoutreach

The start of a journey. Two weeks ago on my day off from work Rebeca, Tina , and I, all went to see Michael, one of our homeless friends. He became homeless after loosing his home in a divorce, and loosing everything in Real Estate. We spent some time his camp talking about life, and filming him talk about his story. We then went to lunch and worked on putting together a résumé with him, which we almost have finished. We also discussed an upcoming interview with Target I have set up, and gave him lots of guidance. I know he is going to do great. I also called an eyeglass store to see if they would help fix his glasses, and they said they would take care of him. I will post periodic updates as he makes his way off the streets and into a new life. I am also creating a video biography of his journey. Sorry this isn't my normal art...but I also think LIFE is art. I keep thinking what a great Easter last weekend was! I picked up three of my homeless friends and went to church, shared an Easter meal together, went to Walmart and bought two outfits and shoes for everyone, took them to my house to take a shower, talked about life/change and prayed together. They said its been so many years that they have had a day like this. It was awesome for all of us! ...I am SO BLESSED! #faith, #hope, #love, #TheStoryChanges, #HomelessOutreach, #homeless, #outreach

Another great day! This pic is us praying with the homeless in their camp. I'm actually working on getting a couple people off the streets and I am so excited for them. I helped them put resume's together, and lined up some interviews next week. I have them applying for housing now, so when they land jobs, they will hopefully have a place to call home. They are also growing spiritually and want to help us when they get off the streets, sharing their story, and inspiring others! Some day we will have an empowerment center and short term transitional housing. I'm not sure how we will fund it, but I know God has big plans! I love what I do. Took this last week of one my homeless friends. He lives in some trees next to the freeway. We visit him every week and provide food, clothing, and good conversation. He is mentally ill but one of the nicest guys you will ever meet. He always asks us to pray with him which we always love doing. This week we also came across some people that can be helped and we are doing what we can to get them on the right path...and off the streets. If helping people is also your calling, and you think you may want to get involved with our homeless outreach, hit me up on Facebook. Username: Jelmberg. Or check out warriorsoutreach.org for info. I made this piece of art from a photo taken today. This guy is super nice guy that lives behind a gas station. It is obvious that he has been through a lot in his lifetime. :( ...but the story changes. We talk to him every week about hope beyond the streets, and we provide a warm meal. By the way!!!!! It would be so cool of you checked out the website I put together for Warriors 4 Christ and tell me what you think. I used many artistic photos throughout the site that I haven't posted on here yet. I put the link in the photo so people can share this on Facebook. I really want this to grow larger so we can help more people in need. In this pic we had just dropped off food to the homeless under the bridge. I am on the left. A large group of us do this every week, and we are making a huge impact. We are called Warriors 4 Christ and we provide food, clothing, and supplies to around 80 homeless people. It's the most we can do at the moment, but we will figure a way, by faith, to get more resources to grow bigger. We also pray with them and encourage them to make positive changes in their life. Our ultimate goal is for them to value themselves enough to want to make a positive change. Anyway, I usually put really cool pics on my Facebook every week if you would like follow our progress. My username is jelmberg - One more thing...I will be posting more art pics soon. :) I have just been so busy. ...Have a great week everybody. #homeless, #hope, #love, #bridge, #outreach, #god, #California, #PalmDesert, #Indio, #PalmSprings, #Coachella

I'm a tough guy that doesn't like to show tears, but today I almost broke down. Center pic - last week we took blankets and food to the homeless all around the desert, and this is us praying with a very kind man who lives under a bridge. Today we also took food and supplies around and saw him again. We found out he had been bitten by a spider and couldn't walk. His foot was huge like a balloon!!! His wife was so worried for him, but he didn't want her to go for help, and they lacked the convenience of a cell phone to call out. After seeing the severity of the bite we called 911. While we were waiting for the ambulance to arrive, the homeless man asked one of the little girls to pray with him. Words can not express the emotions that I felt...it was beautiful. Once he had gone to the hospital, we prayed with the wife who was in tears. She was so thankful! This is just part of a morning filled with blessings and love. I am so proud to be apart of an amazing group that cares about ALL people, without judgment. If any of you would like to see pics, videos, and periodic updates, or would just like to get involved, please get in touch with me through Facebook. My username is jelmberg. I will also be posting a video tomorrow of how awesome Operation Warmth went. Have a great night!!! #homeless #faith #outreach #god #love #amazing

I started yesterday morning listening to one man's testimony. After which, I took a short drive to Orange County and captured this on my iPhone, shooting out of the car window. It's cool because the sun breaking through the clouds actually formed a heart, which was the seen on one side of the road. On the other side was a huge rainbow. Anyway, the guy giving me his testimony earlier had been homeless, on drugs, and sent to prison where he was beaten to near death. He talked about being saved by an angel after asking God into his life, and all the amazing miracles that followed. Now he runs an outreach group that ministers to the homeless weekly, and also provides food and clothing. It is so awesome!!! I believed his miracle story because I have also physically been touched (saved) by an angel in an accident. It's always hard to share the story because most people won't believe it, so it was cool to have a supernatural experience in common with someone. Anyway, I think the sky and rainbow was God's way of saying he was present in our spirit filled morning. If you have a miracle story please leave a comment. I would love to hear it. #photography, #photo, #mountains, #sun, #clouds, #God, #angel #beauty, #beautiful, #California, #nature, #sky, #life, #pretty, #peace

I NEED YOUR HELP!!! I decided I'm going make a cry out for help to my Instagram followers, because this boy's time is running out! Dylan, who is 6 years old needs a blood transfusion in the next few days, or he won't be around much longer. The problem is, the LA Children's hospital is out of O neg blood. Here is the situation...Dylan has a rare disease, that took the top docs in the country 4 years to diagnose. His cells are not absorbing nutrients and therefore his organs are not working properly, and some organs are not working at all. He was transferred from a Vegas hospital to LA where he could get the care he needs. His Mom has lived at the hospital for 3 long months now! So these are the things you may be able to help with: (1) Forward this MSG to your network of friends and get the word out. (2) If you live in, or near LA, and have O neg blood go directly to childrens hospital of LA and donate at the blood bank. It is open from 8-4:30. I recommend calling first and making an appointment to let them know you are donating for Dylan Prunty. Birth Date 5/1/06 (3) His Mom needs to find a house near the hospital to rent, as a place of rest. Renting a house will also make it easier for her family to come down to support her. Please give her a good rate because she is also trying to cover over 7k a month in medical care. If you can help with a home, or can offer any kind of assistance get in touch with me through Facebook, and I will give you the Mom's info. My username on FB is jelmberg. (4) If you are not close to LA you could simply send a nice card to Dylan at LA Children's Hospital offering support. I think that would be so cool! (5) Please pray for him and his Mom. That's it...Thank you all so much. I know together we can all make a difference and save this young boys life. #love #hope #help #god #christian #faith #pray #child #giveblood

I took a photo from my Street Life Series and used a saying that has so much meaning. I can think of so many things we all complain about every day...money, relationships, government, work....and on and on! When I spoke with these men they were so kind and had nothing to complain about. How is it possible that two guys that live in such harsh conditions, that society has forgotten about, be in good spirits? How can I feel sorry for myself, or complain about anything, when they don't!? I think we all need to stop looking at what we don't have, and the things that don't go our way, and realize how much we have been blessed. We should go into the holidays remembering what really matters... family, health, and helping others in need. In fact, if you see these gentlemen on the streets of Seattle some day, buy them a meal and share some good conversation. You will see...we are not so different. Afterwards when you return home and you are able walk through the door of your warm house and hug your wife, husband, or children. Soak it in with appreciation because the nice man with no arms or legs will never have the ability to enjoy that experience. I truly believe that once we really evaluate our life and realize our blessings, we will want to bless others. Blessed is he who is kind to the needy -Proverbs 14:21 Anyway, I hope you all have a great week filled with happiness and gratitude. #homeless, #streets, #poor, #love, #hope, #god, #hope #art, #fineart, #portrait, #illustration, #help, #hungry, #photography, #seattle, #life, #popular, #amazing, #motivational, #love

After the last goofy picture that I took of my girlfriend acting funny (the monkey pic) I decided to take a nice one. She is taking an interest in modeling part time. Being that I used to own a model agency, I decided to help her out. I really do feel she has a very marketable look. This shot was a last minute thought as the sun was setting, so I had to rush putting on her makeup and had no help with lighting. Considering all that I think her pics turned out pretty good for only 10 minutes of shooting time. My next shoot will be a cool editorial fashion shoot...I can't wait. Anyway, what do you all think?...this is my girlfriend so nice respectful comments please. #fashion, #modeling, #models, #makeup, #asian, asianmodel, #Vietnamese
